For the purposes of review and documentation, the Export Users to CSV tool will export user role (if selected as an export option) with its relevant role name. However, for updating user roles through the Import Users from CSV tool, using the role ID (not the role namein the role field is required. 


Here are some generic role IDs that exist for all organizations:

  • Viewer: iAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
  • User: account_userAdministrator:  org_admin
  • Data Editor:  iBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB
  • Facilitator:  iCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
  • Publisher: account  org_publisherAdmin
  • User: account_admin  org_user
  • Viewer:  iAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

For specific roles not in this list (such as custom roles), a good way to find a specific roleID involves access to the developer console on your browser.

You will need to look at the network tab on your "Manage User Type" on a user in the organization's member list. There will be an network tab entry for roles. Under the preview tab for that entry, you can see all the ids.
