This article is specifically for updating a currently installed version of Backup My Org

  1. Download the new application build provided by GEO Jobe GIS Consulting onto the machine that is currently running the application..

  2. Temporarily STOP the service being replaced (no uninstalling is required). You can do this by going to your start menu in windows and searching “services” to access the services app.

    • From there, you can find your previously running Backup My Org service. To stop the service right click the service name in the index and choose “Stop Service.”

  3. Backup your current Directory of Backup My Org by renaming the folder (_old, _date, etc.)

  4. Unzip the contents of the NEW build, and replace the previous file location, its name and respective installation directory is the same as the previous version.

    1. For Backup My Org, recover the original “scheduled” folder, if any settings changes were made, the nodeconfig.json file, and If any cert and key information were used for https access, those will need to be recovered as well.

  5. RESTART the service that was temporarily stopped in Step 2.

  6. Access your application via the localhost and port or the URL previously designated. It should now be running the updated version.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues replacing or restarting the application, open the folder where your application directory is found, and type “CMD” in the address bar of File Explorer. This will open up the Command Prompt already navigated to the directory. From there, type “BackupMyOrg” and you will be able to view and copy any errors being logged. If you cannot isolate the cause of the error in updating your application, please reach out to support@geo-jobe.com
