Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

General

Does GEO Jobe have access to my account if I use their products?

No. GEO Jobe does not have access to your account. All code related to our Products for ArcGIS runs in your local browsers on your machine and executes requests directly against the platform through Esri’s REST API.

Are your tools SOC2 compliant?

GEO Jobe operates under SOC2-aligned practices, and our hosted services follow industry security protocols.

Admin Tools 2.0

Will a single license of Admin Tools for ArcGIS cover my access to both ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online?

As it turns out Admin Tools for ArcGIS handles licensing by "connector" (ArcGIS Enterprise Environment or ArcGIS Online Organization) each connector is a separate license. One license will not provide service to both ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online.

Can Admin Tools for ArcGIS be used by non-ArcGIS Administrator Roles?

As it turns out Admin Tools for ArcGIS is only usable by those with the full ArcGIS Administrator Role. The application works against the ArcGIS REST API by generating a login token to make calls for all tools and their operations, as well as accessing all items, users, and groups in the organization.

Why am I getting a "Unable to check purchase status, error: [request:server]: Failed to fetch error" when singing into Admin Tools for ArcGIS Online?

For information on how to do this, please refer to this article: https://geo-jobe.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GJKBASE/pages/14090241/If+You+Are+Signing+In+To+Admin+Tools+for+ArcGIS+and+Receive+Could+not+get+user+information.+Please+contact+your+organization+s+administrator.+or+Unable+to+check+purchase+status+error+request+server+Failed+to+fetch+error+.

How many licenses will I need? Do you scale by the number of named users?

As it turns out we do not license by the number of named users. Licenses to Admin Tools for ArcGIS are purchased by "connector" (ArcGIS Enterprise Environment or ArcGIS Online Organization). For example, If you have separate Development, Testing, and Production environments, and you would like to use Admin Tools for ArcGIS on each one for administration, three connector licenses would be required. If you also have an ArcGIS Online Organization, an additional connector would be required, as well.

Can you tell me how to Install Admin Tools for ArcGIS on Premises?

Absolutely. Please see our Admin Tools 2.0 Installation Guide. https://geo-jobe.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GJKBASE/pages/2593751045 or at our GEO Jobe youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihsCWJY_XzY&t=4s

Where should Admin Tools for ArcGIS be installed On-Premises?

Admin Tools 2.0 can be installed on the same machine that runs the actual ArcGIS Enterprise. Admin Tools 2.0 is very lightweight in terms of size and the resources required to run the application. As long as the machine in question can "see" and connect to the Environments you would like to manage, Admin Tools should generally be able to be installed and run from that location. An instance when it is not advisable to run on-premises is with a large ArcGIS organization where it is caching or processing a large amount of ArcGIS content.

How do I activate or renew my Admin Tools Pro license?

Contact GEO Jobe Sales or Support. Licenses are managed per organization and renewed annually.

Can I mass delete groups or items?

Use the 'Delete Items' or 'Delete Groups' tools. Be cautious—deletion is irreversible unless backups are available.

If using dedicated servers for Admin Tools for ArcGIS, do you have certificate requirements? No. There are no certificate requirements.

Can the Cloning Operation be used to migrate data from one ArcGIS Enterprise environment to another, or from ArcGIS Enterprise to ArcGIS Online?

As of May 2022, Admin Tools 2.0 no longer supports the cloning operation. Backup My Org is now the recommended product to handle the migration of items, users, and groups from one ArcGIS organization to another.

Do you need the DNS and hostnames of the federated ArcGIS Servers and Datastores?

We only need the Environment Hostnames and DNS, not any federated ArcGIS servers linked to them.

Clean My Org

How does Clean My Org Store data?

Clean My Org and Backup My Org utilizes MongoDB for data storage, including log files (in JSON format), event collections (also in JSON), and output files from tools in the format chosen by the user. All data is kept on the local machine where Clean My Org is installed, with nothing transmitted to GEO Jobe or stored on GEO Jobe servers. Passwords saved in MongoDB are encrypted for security.

Scheduler for ArcGIS

How does Scheduler store data?

Like our other products, Scheduler uses MongoDB to store data. It also stores log files (as JSON), event collections and event logs (as JSON), and output files generated by tools (whatever format the user has selected). Any data Scheduler stores will be on the machine where Scheduler is installed. Nothing is sent to GEO Jobe or saved to GEO Jobe servers. All passwords stored in MongoDB are encrypted. Scheduler can use the same instance of MongoDB as other GEO Jobe products, with each product having its own database within MongoDB.
