This article is specifically for updating a currently installed version of Clean My Org

Warning: If you already have MongoDB, do not update its version without checking this guide first. You do not need to update MongoDB as part of updating our products.

How to Perform the Update

  1. Download the new application build provided by GEO Jobe GIS Consulting onto the machine that is currently running the application..

  2. Temporarily STOP the service being replaced (no uninstalling is required). You can do this by going to your start menu in Windows and searching “services” to access the services app. From there, you can find your previously running Clean My Org service. To stop the service right click the service name in the index and choose “Stop Service.”

  3. Back up your current Directory of Clean My Org by renaming the folder with the suffix (_old, _date, etc.) appended.

  4. Unzip the contents of the NEW build, and replace the previous file location, its name and respective installation directory is the same as the previous version.

    1. For Clean My Org, if any settings changes were made, the nodeconfig.json file will need to be recovered from the previous version. If any cert and key information were used for https access, those will need to be recovered as well.

  5. RESTART the service that was temporarily stopped in Step 2.

  6. Access your application via your localhost environment and port OR the URL previously designated. It should now be running the updated version.

Troubleshooting

If encountering any issues while replacing or restarting the application:

  1. open the folder where your application directory is located, and type “CMD” in the address bar of file explorer. This will open up the Windows Command Prompt already navigated to the directory.

  2. From there, type “CleanMyOrg” and you will be able to view and copy any errors being logged.

If you cannot isolate the cause of the error in updating your application, please reach out to support@geo-jobe.com for further assistance.
