How to Download a HAR File

When assisting customers with GEO Jobe products, Support may request a HAR file in order to identify where the error is occurring. A HAR file captures the calls a webpage makes to various services and their responses. This will help the GEO Jobe determine what information is being sent in those calls, how it is formatted, and how the server is responding..

Please Note: While Admin Tools for ArcGIS is used for the screenshots in this guide, the process is the same for any web page.

In order to download an HAR file, please follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the desired web page.

  2. Open the Developer Tools. This can be done by right-clicking in the browser window and selecting ‘Inspect’.

  3. Select the Network tab in the developer tools.

  4. Clear the Network traffic history.

Note: This step is very important. If it is skipped, it will cause the HAR file to be significantly larger, which may make it difficult to send to GEO Jobe. Additionally, sifting through the extra information will take longer, and may delay the time it takes to identify any errors.

  5. Perform the operations that are generating the desired behavior. This will still generate the same result, but the “behind the scenes” information is important for our Support Technicians to identify the cause of the behavior.

  6. In the Developer Tools, click the download button. Export HAR will be an option.

  7. Name the HAR file as desired, then save it to your computer.

  8. Send the HAR file to GEO Jobe ( support@geo-jobe.com ) for analysis.
